Designing your Dream House | 6 Steps!

Reacting to Mr. Beast’s videos – Will they help me design his dream house?

Are you dying to start designing your dream home? Here are six steps, simple good practices, that I think will help you get started with the right approach. I know you may not have all the answers right now, but this is something you may want to revisit in the future with the aim to make sure that everything will be planned before adding the first brick block to your land.

No architect, savings, and land are needed, these are six steps you can start today!

I leave you below the detalied action plan in .pdf. I believe it is a good starting point for you and the amazing future to come… are you ready?

Step 1.

Observe your current space & lifestyle.

Before hiring someone and spending an unnecessary budget, it is important for you to analyze your lifestyle and how you use your current space… you will have to look at your personal and family habits, as well as the space where you live.

This step will help you to develop a critical eye on many things you have always had there but never thought of…

Step 2.

Ask yourself why a change is necessary.

Secondly, you must find the “why” that drives the whole idea. By asking you the “why”; you’ll unlock the real will and strength that you need to succeed with your design.

As well as, overcome all the foreseeable troubles during the design & construction.

To finally achieve, a lifetime goal, that won’t be designing your dream house but also live already there.

Step 3.

Your “Must-Haves” in your dream house.

All right! After having a profitable time thinking about what you’ve got and why you want to change it. Now is time to be realistic, and define the boundaries, a sort of list of non-negotiable conditions.

Designing your dream house will be driven by your “must-haves” primarily. You have to be reasonable because everything adds to the pile and you want to keep the budget under control, right? List down the non-negotiable conditions you expect to have in your dream house.

Step 4.

Set a clear vision of your dream house.

Later, I want you to read this step, then close your eyes and have a couple of minutes picturing and visualizing your dream house.

How does it look? It is a ditched roof house or something more cubical? Do you like big floor-to-ceiling windows or square openings in the wall?

You can answer many of these questions by searching some referents on social media or websites, there you may find inspiration that will help you to communicate your ideas.

Step 5.

Visualize yourself during the design of the dream house.

Now is time to time-travel to the moment where you start the design phase, and later on, the construction phase.

You’ll have to consider who will be the primary contact with the architect, contractor, and others involved in designing and building the project.

Then you have to assess your availability and the time you are ready to invest during the design and construction to actively help the professionals.

Step 6.

Repeat this process from time to time and improve it.

All right! All the steps that you’ve already completed are not fixed commandments.

It is good that you share your 6 steps with trusted people or even professionals that will provide you with an honest and constructive opinion. Or at least, that you will analyze from time to time, to modify or update based on your new experiences and learned knowledge.

See you, my friend!
